Healthcare Quality and Compliance Officer

The Healthcare Quality and Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing the implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of healthcare policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

JOB SUMMARY:  The Healthcare Quality and Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing the implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of healthcare policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role ensures that healthcare operations meet the required standards for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, while identifying and mitigating risks to patient care and organization.

This position is a hybrid position, both in person and remote.

 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:  (other duties may be assigned)

Monitor and ensure compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, and accreditation standards (HIPAA & AAAHC) specific to WA state regulations

Assist in preparing for external audits and inspections, ensuring all documentation and practices aligned with regulatory standards

Stay updated on regulatory changes and communicate relevant updates to management and staff

Ensure staff are knowledgeable about compliance requirements, quality standards and safety protocols

Provide guidance and support to healthcare staff on compliance-related issues, including interpreting regulations and standards

Partners with the appropriate staff to ensure compliance with federal, state and AAAHC regulations pertaining to clinical aspects of providing health care

Ensure that all staff members adhere to internal policies and regulatory requirements

Attends accreditation training and relevant meetings

Develop reports as required

Oversee and manages Quality Improvement committee, QI studies and benchmarking

Complete credentialing and reappointments for all medical personnel

Prepare and submit compliance and quality-related reports to senior management and regulatory bodies as required

Maintain accurate records of compliance audits, inspections, and corrective actions taken

Ensure documentation is kept up-to-date for both internal and external review

Oversees and delegates tasks and projects Safety Officer, Infection Control Officer, and Privacy Officer positions

SKILLS:

  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Proficiency in healthcare compliance software and data management tools

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Licensure:

  • 2 or more years of medical experience/background highly preferred/desired but not a requirement

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current Driver's License

  • Current CPR Certification
